About GeoData Registry
GeoData Registry is a lightweight scholarly infrastructure for planned geodata collection and responsible geodata documentation. It supports two related workflows: registering intended geodata collection before it happens and creating structured geodata cards for datasets that already exist, are being created, or are planned.
The registry is designed around minimal metadata. Planned collection records describe what geodata are planned, where, when, which attributes may be collected, which instrument or method may be used, and who can be contacted. The platform does not store raw geodata and does not require researchers to reveal full hypotheses, sampling frames, or analysis plans.
The geodata card builder supports structured documentation of spatial datasets, including representation, encoding, source pathway, coordinate reference, spatial and temporal support, lineage, uncertainty, leakage, representativeness, geoprivacy, sensitive geography, and GeoAI reuse.
